MEPC 77 started on 22 November and will run as a virtual meeting for five days. The MEPC has been informed of several BWMS type-approvals, including one from Iran.
The submissions for consideration at MEPC 77 include notification of BWMS code type-approvals for the following ballast water treatment systems:
Rahavaran Ayandeh Darya Company: The Islamic Republic of Iran has submitted basic approval of the RADClean ballast water management system (BWMS) in accordance with the procedure for approval of ballast water management systems that use active substances (G9) adopted by resolution MEPC.169(57). The RADClean BWMS consists of filtration and the side stream disinfection (electrochlorination) during ballast water uptake. A neutralisation step prior to discharge, by injecting sodium thiosulphate; and measuring TRO to meet the maximum injecting dose (9 mg / L as Cl2) and maximum discharge dose (< 0.1 mg / L as Cl2) during uptake and discharge.
